"I voted for the report because I believe the collection, analysis, exchange and misuse of data, and the risk of ‘profiling’, stimulated by technical developments, have reached unprecedented dimensions. There is therefore a need for strong data protection rules, such as applicable law and the setting out of the responsibilities of all interested parties in terms of the implementation of EU data protection legislation, taking into account that loyalty cards – club cards, discount cards, advantage cards, etc. – are being used increasingly frequently by companies and in commerce, and are, or can be, used for customer profiling."@en1
