"− The main objective of development policy is to reduce the level of poverty. Poverty affects people in many ways, and is closely linked to the problem of social exclusion in terms of gender equality. Women earn less than men and more frequently have part-time and temporary employment contracts. Almost one in four women in the EU live in poverty, most of whom are older women, single mothers, disabled women and women belonging to ethnic minorities. Another huge problem is violence against women, which is undoubtedly a factor that causes poverty due to its negative impact on health. If we want to implement an effective EU development policy, we must ensure that it takes the gender perspective into account at all possible levels, and therefore I voted in favour of the Kaczmarek report on increasing the impact of EU development policy. Thank you."@en1
