The introduction of the common market has, of course, been accompanied by an influx of rogue traders who are making huge profits from cross-border activities in particular. This is because, in contrast to the trading itself, there are bureaucratic obstacles to the cross-border enforcement of consumers’ rights. We need to pay greater attention to enforcing consumer protection legislation as part of the process of implementing the internal market. For this reason, I have voted in favour of the compromise proposal agreed by the different groups amending Regulation (EC) No 2006/2004 on cooperation between national authorities."@en1
