The retail trade is of paramount importance for economic and social cohesion, so I support the call for the drafting of an integrated European Action Plan on Retail, with a view to defining a framework of action with concrete and pragmatic proposals for resolving outstanding issues. I would therefore like to congratulate the author of this report for her contribution to removing the barriers to the free movement of goods and services, defending the interests of businesses and consumers, promoting their access to the market, and increasing efficiency and sustainable consumption.
