"According to a survey carried out in February 2011, only 26% of EU citizens can identify spontaneously the 112 number as the number to call for emergency services, while 58% of EU citizens still believe that the public has not been informed about the existence of this number. As a result, access must be improved via new electronic communications technologies or broadband services, including for people with disabilities, the elderly and vulnerable groups. It is also necessary to handle emergency calls in foreign languages more effectively, against the background of EU citizens’ increased mobility."@en1
