"Food production is related to people’s health and safety. It is right and proper for the Union to do everything to ensure that food coming to the European market is of a high quality. Sadly, dubious instruments are sometimes used to this end. One of these is the establishment of a maximum level of support of EUR 300 000 for a single farm. If quality is what we care about, then why do we distinguish between small and large producers? Sadly, not one of the proposals submitted by my fellow Members and myself in order to remove this absurd condition from the text has been approved. This confirms once again that the common agricultural policy is not about efficient production."@en1
