lpv:translated text	"Madam President, I welcome Mr Dess’s report on reform of the common agricultural policy (CAP), and I thank him for his work. This week’s vote will reflect what the European Parliament expects to see in the legislative proposals for the CAP. The budget vote, which is upcoming, is also extremely important for ensuring appropriate future funding for agriculture. We need to see a strong and sustainable CAP – based on two pillars – which will keep farmers on the land, ensure environmental protection, promote the rural economy and provide fairness and transparency for all those who work in the food chain. Greening events dealing with the environment in Pillar 1 must be clear, properly designed and easy to measure, and funding for Pillar 2 must be strong and fair."@en1
