It is clear that the EU budget’s current resource system will be incapable of ensuring the implementation of all the commitments made. I agree that it is necessary to fundamentally review budgeting principles, so that, in future, funds for the EU budget are collected from own resources. We also urgently need to consider innovative financing mechanisms, such as a tax on financial transactions, which would make a significant contribution to financing the EU budget."@en1
