lpv:translated text	"The Commission Communication ‘GDP and beyond – Measuring progress in a changing world’ focuses on developing more comprehensive indicators to complement GDP, which will provide a more reliable knowledge base. GDP has come to take on the role of a comprehensive indicator for measuring society’s overall development and progress, but it does not provide a reliable basis for policy debate on every issue. In particular, GDP does not measure the level of environmental sustainability or social integration. I voted for this report because it is important that we develop a tool which can complement GDP, taking into account that it has to be done in a way so that it can have practical use, based on clearly defined indicators and high-quality data. This report calls on the Commission to submit a tiered strategy for the ‘Beyond GDP’ approach which should explain how the new approach can be used pragmatically in day-to-day political activities."@en1
