"I voted in favour of the report on the creation of a European law of contract for consumers and businesses which will help to facilitate cross-border transactions and strengthen the Internal Market, especially for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and consumers. The differences in contract law between the various Member States are slowing down SMEs wishing to carry out cross-border transactions. We need to adopt a flexible procedure that will provide security to small and medium-sized enterprises and consumers and help to protect the parties’ rights. That is why creating an optional instrument that will operate as a standard for SMEs alongside national rules, by broadening the parties’ options, is the right strategy."@en1
