"The aim and much of the content of Mr Falbr’s report is, in my view, very positive. I also consider the focus on employment and decent working conditions to be a key element of sustainable development, and not just in EU countries. Like the rapporteur, I regret that there is no single definition of a ‘social clause’ which would be usable not in bilateral trade agreements, but in the creation of decent employment conditions for workers. The social models of some European countries could also serve as a good example to developing countries. I also share the opinion on the joint fight to eliminate child labour. Despite the above, I abstained from the vote because it is impossible to implement social demands in bilateral trade agreements in the absence of a clear definition of respect for human rights. This criterion must not be used as an argument against the signing of agreements."@en1
