lpv:translated text	"Mr President, I stand here today in order to give unambiguous support to the accession of Romania and Bulgaria to the Schengen area. In my opinion, Mr Coelho’s report very much proves the opinion that these two countries are fully prepared and have fulfilled all of the conditions. Bulgaria and Romania have been Member States of the EU for four years, but some fellow Members appear not to have noticed that, and some of their questions and racist remarks about these countries really concern me as an EU citizen, because if we talk about illegal immigrants from these countries somehow invading our territory, we are actually referring to members and citizens of the EU, and they surely cannot be illegal immigrants. In my opinion, whoever meets the conditions should have the chance of becoming a member of the Schengen area. This is a fundamental principle of equality on which the EU is built, and whoever doubts this doubts the fundamental principles of the EU."@en1
