Following the ratification of the Treaty of Lisbon, Parliament’s powers have been strengthened and it is now colegislator in almost all areas under the ordinary legislative procedure. As a result, it is the focus for the attention of an even larger number of lobbyists, who, moreover, play a key role in the open, pluralist dialogue on which a democratic system is based and act as an important source of information for Members in the performance of their duties It is, however, essential to establish mechanisms for recording and monitoring.
