"At first reading, Parliament approved 63 amendments to the Commission proposal on a regulation on textile fibre names and related labelling of textile products. Some of these amendments were of a technical nature while others were related to the substance, including rules on origin marking, indication of animal-derived materials, the use of language-independent symbols and a review clause. The technical amendments were largely accepted by the Council, but it rejected all substantive amendments proposed by Parliament. Most of these amendments have now been restored, as it is considered important that the Council recognise their expediency and give them due consideration."@en1
