"The process within the Committee on the Internal Market and Consumer Protection was a turning point for Mr Manders’s proposal, as that was where it was decided that it should be made compulsory to include the full composition of a product rather than just some of its parts. Subsequently, however, our group mentioned the need to safeguard the textile industry and the ‘Made in’ label, but no response to this position was given in the negotiations with the Council. Nevertheless, there are elements which are worthy of support, such as streamlining the registration of materials. As I consider safeguarding the ‘Made in’ label to be a priority issue, I cannot vote in favour, and have therefore chosen to abstain."@en1
