".
Mr President, the stress tests are important for assessing the health of the banking system. However, two conditions are absolutely essential. Firstly, the quality of these tests and the accuracy of the actual assessment process. I would like to mention that the banks have had different business models in different countries. In Romania, as in other countries, the banks were not involved in transactions dealing with toxic assets. On the other hand, however, they carried out expansionist lending based on external resources assigned in the short term and providing funding in the long term. However, the results were the same: losses, particular vulnerability generated in the relevant countries and, obviously, a lack of responsibility for risk management. The second condition is the transparency of the test results which we will apply in the banking systems. This transparency is demanded by both financial markets and citizens."@en1
