"I voted in favour of this report. In order to create a functional Single Market in which healthy and productive competition is the rule, I believe that the measures described in this report are essential
I strongly agree with the need to create a single digital market, because the lack of adequate rules affects the efficiency of the European market in no small way, especially in recent times, given the technological advances of other countries that are our economic competitors. We must consider the enormous potential of e-commerce, especially as regards the growth of cross-border trade and, as I said before, the resulting increase in competitiveness that it would bring to the market.
Furthermore, I agree with the need to act on two other fronts; the services sector and SMEs. Proper implementation of the directive on services and on reforming the regulatory framework on standardisation so that it extends to these is indispensable. In addition, we are waiting for the European Commission’s proposed legislation. Finally, as I have said in other debates, we must identify new incentives and give more support to small and medium-sized enterprises, the backbone of our market and creators of so many jobs."@en1
