Moldova is experiencing difficulties related to wine exports, which poses a threat to its economic recovery and agriculture, in particular medium-sized and family farms. The agricultural sector accounts for around 40% of Moldova’s economy. The wine sector alone employs approximately 300 000 people, most of whom live in rural areas. Hitherto Moldova has fully exhausted the quota it was allocated, therefore an increase in duty free tariff quotas will enable Moldova to increase sales of its production in the EU, without damaging the EU’s wine industry."@en1
