"Mr President, the adoption of the harmonised European Consumer Rights Directive is certainly one way of improving the functioning of the internal market. This harmonised directive, which brings together a number of directives relating to consumer rights, will considerably simplify the legal framework, will undoubtedly help to increase consumer confidence, and of course will also encourage cross-border trade. This is a step towards reducing fragmentation. Unfortunately, the full harmonisation of consumer rights in the European Union is still not a reality today. Nevertheless, this is an important step towards better consumer protection and trade. I therefore supported the adoption of this document."@en1
