lpv:translated text	"Despite the efforts made in the struggle for equality between women and men, women today are still at greater risk of poverty (17%) than men (15%); this difference is greater in the case of older people (22% of women compared to 17% of men). The greater risk of poverty affecting women is, in part, due to the disparities in wages between women and men. This pay gap continues to be around 18% in the European Union, which has repercussions on income throughout life, on social protection and on pensions.
