"− The number of falsified medicinal products is rising sharply in all European countries. This is confirmed by recent findings indicating that 1.5 million falsified boxes are sold each year in Europe by the legal pharmaceutical supply chain. New estimates also suggest a worrying increase in this phenomenon, which also includes online medicine sales and, even more seriously, increasingly involves novel ‘life-saving’ drugs. A new European strategy must therefore be implemented as soon as possible so as to combat this phenomenon and to better protect public health and European consumers. I therefore voted in favour of this report, because I think it has the merit of having achieved a good compromise, the main aim of which is to protect patients so that they do not take falsified medicines."@en1
