"Question 30 by Vilija Blinkeviciute () On 17 December 2010, the Commission launched a new equal opportunities strategy for the period to 2014, in which it set new targets for the number of women in senior and middle management positions and for the recruitment of women to administrator (AD) posts in the Commission’s directorates-general, departments and services. The new equal opportunities strategy will thus seek to guarantee equal opportunities for men and women working at the Commission, but does not extend to the EU’s other institutions and agencies. Will the Commission’s equal opportunities strategy affect women working in other EU institutions? Does the Commission see a need to draw up a common strategy on equal opportunities, in order to guarantee equal opportunities for men and women working in other European agencies and institutions as well? Gender equality and equal opportunities are fundamental EU principles and should therefore apply universally, without exception, to all EU workers."@en1
