"This proposal is a follow-up to the Community strategy to reduce CO
emissions from light commercial vehicles (LCVs), as follows:
from 2020, a long-tem target of 147g CO
/km for the average emissions of new LCVs registered in the Union, subject to confirmation of its feasibility. By 1 January 2013, after a complete review of them, a proposal will amend it, if appropriate;
the short-term target, fixed to 175g CO
/km; a phasing-in period from 1 January 2014 onwards with full compliance of the new fleet from 2017;
specific emission targets for alternative fuel vehicles will be incorporated, aimed at promoting further deployment of certain alternative fuel vehicles in the Union market;
for multi-stage vehicles, the specific emissions of CO
of completed vehicles will be allocated to the manufacturer of the base vehicle. The super-credits to manufacturers producing LCVs with emissions of CO
of less than 50g CO
/km will be limited with a threshold of 25 000 LCVs per manufacturer;
the penalties: from 2019 onwards settled to €95, being phased in gradually from 1 January 2014 to 2018.
Helping manufactures to develop green technology for vans will be beneficial both for companies and job creation."@en1
