It establishes an artificial level playing field between banana-exporting countries. It actually sanctions the appalling wage policies and the destruction of democracy that multinationals such as Chiquita and Dole bring to the countries of Latin America. It does not say a word about their environmental crimes. It is in the context of the Economic Partnership Agreements that equality should be established, otherwise there can be no equality.
