"The different ways in which Article 290 of the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union is interpreted by Parliament and the Council has led me to support this legislative recommendation. We cannot forget the legislative role of Parliament, as enshrined in the Treaty of Lisbon, but it seems to have been overlooked by the Council. This intransigence is blocking a series of legislative processes, and this is doing nothing to benefit the EU. Development cooperation with countries that have so-called ‘emerging economies’ is very important for the EU. That is why I voted as I did."@en1
