"One of the most effective ways of raising social awareness about the incidence of dementia in people of advanced age is to highlight the problem and conduct an active information campaign. We should pay particular attention to Alzheimer’s disease, since it is becoming an increasingly serious problem, not only in the EU but also on a global scale, and, according to specialists, the number of sufferers is constantly on the rise. Our society is ageing, and we must speak about this problem openly and look for solutions. Above all, we must highlight the importance of preventing the disease. I therefore voted in favour of the Matias report on a European initiative on Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias."@en1
