lpv:translated text	"I voted for the motion for a resolution on the Voluntary Partnership Agreements (VPAs) on forest law enforcement, governance and trade in timber and derived products to the European Union. I voted in favour because I believe that the negotiation of these VPAs enables us to obtain guidelines on best practices that could serve as a precedent for the negotiations under way for other VPAs with timber-producing countries. In this context, I welcome the EU’s acceptance of its share of the responsibility for eradicating illegal logging, as well as the related trade, and for strengthening efforts connected with the conservation and sustainable use of forest resources globally. I welcome the fact that the commitments of the parties involved to improve forest governance are transparent and respectful of indigenous peoples’ rights, whilst ensuring forest biodiversity, the climate and sustainable human development."@en1
