"First of all, I should like to congratulate Cambridge University and your region.
Secondly, I hope to have the support of your group in the discussion on the multiannual framework for appropriate budgetary commitments to support research, technology and innovation at European level. Cambridge is one of the most developed universities in the world, but there are other universities in Europe in the poorest regions that unfortunately do not have the same kind of access.
Thirdly, simplification is indeed one of our priorities for energy and innovation, and in this case, for research. We are also going to discuss innovation in the other part of the European Council. It is certainly one of our priorities and we are very happy to have the support of the European Parliament for that. We hope also to have the support of the Court of Auditors and others. It is important to understand how important it is for scientists that they do not lose so much time on paperwork and that they have more time to concentrate on what they do best, namely research."@en1
