According to scientific research, at the current rate of progress, we will not even achieve half of the 20% target set. Therefore, it is necessary to take more binding measures and greater control in the Member States. I believe that when revising the Energy Efficiency Action Plan, the European Commission must seriously take into account the fact that the Member States are not exploiting energy saving opportunities sufficiently, which is preventing an increase in energy independence. It is also necessary for individual Member States to set binding energy efficiency targets and monitor how they are implemented, because otherwise, the huge potential for energy saving will remain untapped."@en1
