"Cohesion policy is a key concern of the EU in order to balance out the relationship between the richer and poorer regions. It is also intended to enable the results of uneven economic development to be levelled out. Accordingly, it should also be possible to ensure that common standards of living can be achieved. Particularly in a globalised world, a great deal of importance should be attached to the competitiveness of the regions. I am voting against the report, as it is not clear to what extent the regions of the individual Member States already have the necessary expertise at their disposal."@en1
