The efforts described have been consistent with and have demonstrated Moldova’s concern with continuing on the route towards possible enlargement. The recent elections did not pass off in the best way possible, and the fact that the country currently has an interim president is not the best sign that the degree of consolidation of its democratic culture is on the right path. To this must be added the question of Transnistria, which could cause some kind of instability.
