lpv:translated text	"The anchovy fishery in the Bay of Biscay is of great socio-economic importance. The fishery has, however, been closed for five years, and this has directly affected fishermen and their families, as well as the income that revolved around that employment sector, which includes net menders and the canning industry. Unfortunately, the aid granted by the Member States has not made up for the serious loss of income. This closure should therefore be reviewed and a long-term plan established to find a solution that takes the various demands into account. For this reason, I voted in favour of Mrs Bilbao Barandica’s report. I did so primarily because it introduces an exploitation rule that will maximise catches, on the basis of the precautionary principle, and will provide expected maximum economic levels for that fishery."@en1
