"Let me pose a simple question. Why is there a common agricultural policy at all? Europe has an abundance of fertile agricultural land. We still have farmers willing and able to produce food. Europe and the World has an abundance of people who need to buy food. The mechanism of the market, if left to itself, would meet the needs of supply and demand at competitive prices. The CAP is an artificial, expensive and unnecessary burden on farmers and consumers. Let me suggest the easiest simplification of all: abolish the CAP!"@en1
