lpv:translated text	"The Stockholm Programme aims to safeguard the fundamental rights of citizens in an area of freedom, security and justice. However, the differences in the various legal systems of the Member States are creating barriers to the development of European legislation. That is why I voted in favour of the European Parliament resolution, which proposes the convergence and harmonisation of civil, commercial, family and private international law and focuses on cooperation between the various legal systems of the Member States by: • nurturing a common European judicial culture; • educating and training judges, prosecutors and other court officers, with the aim of building mutual understanding of the legal systems of the other Member States and resolving cross-border disputes; • creating a regular forum so that judges in areas of law where cross-border issues arise can examine areas of legal controversy or difficulty with the aim of building a climate of mutual confidence; • introducing a European contract law; • introducing cooperation between the courts of the Member States in the taking of evidence in civil and commercial matters."@en1
