"Mr President, the problem of declining fish stocks is affecting not only us Europeans, but also fishermen and consumers throughout the world. The lack of suitable fishing grounds is a threat to food security. It may also upset the balance of aquatic ecosystems and, as a result, of the entire environment of our planet.
In relation to climate change, the Baltic Sea is particularly at risk of the disappearance of certain species of fish, and errors in European fisheries legislation, which imposes bans on fishing, are exacerbating this situation. This is why it is so important to carry out an appropriate revision of the common fisheries policy, which guarantees sustainable fishing in the waters of our region. I endorsed the report for these reasons."@en1
