"Madam President, ladies and gentlemen, we believe that the regulation is positive, since it is aimed at providing a harmonised legislative framework with regard to non-promotional information on prescription medicines which pharmaceutical companies may communicate to the public, leaving the advertising ban unchanged.
The motion stresses the difference between advertising and information. The provision of information is based on the principles of active research. Doctors must continue to be the main source of information on medicinal products. Other sources, which are understood to be complementary and which include magazines and newspapers, should be maintained.
The central focus is the patient’s right to information, with the active participation of organisations that represent citizens, particularly patients. We voted in favour."@en1
