"In my opinion, the rapporteur quite correctly proposes two measures relating to the effects of the unevenness of demographic development on the financing of social expenditure and the financial situation of pension systems in all Member States. The first measure aims to increase employment among young people, and the second to put back the retirement age. I agree with the rapporteur’s view that older people are not a burden for the economy and society but, on the contrary, a great benefit because of their experience of life and their knowledge. I have decided to vote in favour of the report, because the controversial section which supported the idea of replacing the current continuous system with a system based on capital funds has been taken out of the report."@en1
