lpv:translated text	"− This report has our support because it emphasises the strengthening of relations between the EU and the countries of Latin America and the Caribbean. The European Union’s specific task is to act as an economic and commercial player on the international stage, overcoming competition from its partners, the United States and China, which have a foothold in the Latin American market. Few sectors benefit from these trade relations. Eighty-five per cent of the imports into the countries of Latin American and the Caribbean (LAC) are industrial products, whereas 40% of exports to the EU are commodities. In the medium to long term, trade relations should be intensified in accordance with clear and transparent rules."@en1
