". − The Dutch People’s Party for Freedom and Democracy (VVD) in the European Parliament today backed the line of the Group of the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe on origin marking, with the exception of Amendment 37 on pharmaceutical products. We voted in favour of compulsory labelling of pharmaceutical products since we believe that consumers have the right to know where their medicines and so on come from. In addition, labelling is important as it enables counterfeit medicines to be traced more effectively. Fake medicines are the most commonly encountered of all the counterfeit products in the EU."@en1
