When implementing the objectives of these policies, particular consideration must be given to the specific regional features of the seas around Europe. Every maritime area is unique and requires individual attention in order to achieve a sustainable balance with its users. At the same time, we must ensure that this policy will enjoy appropriate funding in the outlook for the forthcoming programming period, thereby creating a new approach aimed at encouraging optimum development of all maritime activities in a sustainable manner, and which will cover all sea basins. This will allow us to enjoy much greater benefits, while easing the environmental impact."@en1
