"My support for this report highlights the importance of solidarity within our European societies, particularly in this European Year for Combating Poverty.
Certain Member States, such as France, have played a pioneering role by creating a ‘minimum guaranteed income’ 20 years ago. However, experience has taught us that this system can generate adverse effects and, for example, encourage idleness in some. That is why the Union must consider measures which, like the French
