"Obviously, I am voting in favour of the financial decision to mobilise the European Globalisation Adjustment Fund (EGF) for workers made redundant from Qimonda in Portugal. At this point, it is important to state that this decision has come too late, and that the money will arrive in Portugal even later: not before late November or early December. Things did not have to be this way, and they should not be this way. The EGF can and should be streamlined so that victims of collective dismissal do not have to wait 17 months for support which is declared to be urgent, as they have in this case. If Europe continues to be so kind to financial capital, it cannot continue to be ungracious to the victims of the crisis."@en1
