"The figure of 35 000 deaths caused by road accidents is equivalent to the population of a small European town disappearing every year, which I regard as an extremely serious matter. Pedestrians, cyclists and motorcyclists account for 57% of road accident victims. I believe that teaching about this is something particularly lacking in children’s general schooling (because there was also a question here referring to schoolchildren). This is why I am asking you what measures the Commission is taking to educate those who are at risk in traffic."@en1
