lpv:translated text	"The timing of today’s debate on the cohesion policy after 2013 is just right if we also consider that the Open Days are taking place in Brussels. The fact that numerous participants from most of Europe’s regions have come here to present their initiatives, efforts and results, as well as their dissatisfaction in a variety of areas of regional development, strengthens my view that the EU’s cohesion policy delivers concrete results. One particular aspect being considered during the current programming period is how efficiently current funds are being used. We will have to focus on implementing measures aimed at increasing the level of absorption of the allocated funds, especially in those regions facing difficulties in this respect. This is why efforts must continue at European, national and regional level to simplify the implementation of the cohesion policy. A proper balance must definitely be maintained between simplifying procedures and ensuring efficiency and good financial management in order to produce a policy which is easy to implement with a raised profile."@en1
