"I support the call in the report for all developing countries to be associated with the International Labour Organisation’s Decent Work Agenda and for the right to freedom from forced labour and from child labour to be upheld without exception. According to estimates, there are 218 million children working worldwide. Of those, 126 million are engaged in hazardous work. Poverty will be the lot of children who are excluded from the education system and put to work against their will. Significant measures must be implemented to combat child labour, to create jobs for adults in place of it and to allow children to get a proper education. The international community must be committed to making every effort to eliminate child labour and definite measures must be put in place to fulfil that commitment. I also support what the report says about meeting basic needs of people in developing countries and about paying special attention to security of food supply and access to clean drinking water."@en1
