".
The Group of the Greens/European Free Alliance welcomes the vote by Parliament, which has fully carried out its role as the guarantor of fundamental values in the EU. It has refused to keep silent about the situation in France, and has also not forgotten to criticise the late and limited response by the Commission. Indeed, these expulsions are crucial evidence for Europe in terms of its capacity to comply with its own rules laid down in the Charter of Fundamental Rights. It is the responsibility of the Commission to take the appropriate measures, starting with completing its analysis report as soon as possible pointing clearly to the governments that are responsible.
Today’s vote opens up a crucial phase for the credibility of our institution. However, the battle for respect for the rights of minorities is not completely over. Now more than ever there is a need to acknowledge all the rights of minorities in the EU and ensure that those rights are put into practice."@en1
