"Employment policy is vital both for the economy and for social peace. It is therefore in the interests of each nation to make its own decisions on appropriate measures. However, the large degree of variation in the individual Member States makes a standardised package of measures impossible. Labour market participation of 75% is, in some Member States like Poland, Malta and Hungary, which currently have a level below 60%, complete fantasy. Also for Austria, which has a level of around 70%, is it highly questionable whether a higher level of labour market participation is compatible with the freedom of choice available in connection with bringing up children or the protection of domestic workers against wage dumping by cheap foreign workers. For these reasons, I decided to vote against this report."@en1
