It is occasions like these that show the persuasive strength of democracy. The mobilisation of people throughout Europe and particularly in Italy in support of Sakineh should be strongly endorsed, and I hope the situation in Iran improves. I think one of Parliament’s primary roles is to be a beacon of hope for all victims of breaches of human rights.
