Ahmadinejad’s dictatorship has dragged the state system and state power in Iran back to the Middle Ages. We must remind the Iranian regime that the Universal Declaration of Human Rights is not just fine words. I voted for this resolution because the Islamist fanatics do not want to understand the meaning of international law. We must bring about the abolition of the death penalty in Iran and rescue Sakineh Mohammadi-Ashtiani and Zahra Bahrami from the hands of the religious terrorists who have perverted the law into an instrument of terror against their own people."@en1
