This resolution restricts itself to purely and simply codifying the existing texts on workers’ freedom of movement in the Union without substantial amendments, so I voted for its adoption. However, I wish to mention that this freedom of movement implies increased political integration. Only a new concept of sociality in the European Union, that is able to guarantee each European minimum social rights, will enable the free movement of workers without social problems, not least social dumping.
I believe this freedom of movement makes the implementation of minimum standards necessary in the areas of healthcare, education and social pensions, which should be guaranteed at EU level. In terms of social rights, the establishment of these minimum standards increases the homogeneity of employment conditions, and acts to regulate the movements of manual-labour businesses."@en1
